As the first organization of its kind, Tech Spark has been applying customized technology to extend educational opportunities to racialized communities across Canada since 2015. Now, its Tech Spark FWRD platform is positively impacting racialized youth by changing how educators generate and deliver more culturally responsive content.

A recent grant from TELUS Friendly Future Foundation helped Tech Spark create Tech Spark FWRD, its innovative online platform where students learn how to think and collaborate through gaming, digital simulation, and storytelling. Developed to enable teachers to become culturally accredited and focus on removing racial bias in the classroom, Tech Spark FWRD offers racialized youth a more culturally appropriate entrepreneurship curriculum to help them thrive in the tech entrepreneurship space.

“Tech Spark FWRD is the most innovative learning experience for Black and other racialized students,” says Tech Spark Canada CEO Tamar Huggins. “Our platform uses a blend of culturally responsive pedagogy, hip hop culture and multimedia content to provide students with fresh, real-world experiences in tech entrepreneurship, data science, AI, and cybersecurity. We are excited to partner with TELUS Friendly Future Foundation to influence a new generation of thinkers, innovators and problem solvers.”
