Providing recovery support for women in need

Jun 24, 2020

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, many organizations like Avalon Recovery Society found themselves having to close their doors, unable to provide the typical support to the communities that they are used to providing. Through their three locations, Avalon Recovery Society supports women’s ongoing journey of addiction recovery. Their work is critical for the women who look to their programs for resources and support.

TELUS quickly stepped in to donate teleconferencing services, allowing the organization to rapidly transition to virtual meetings and continue providing vital addiction support without interruption. In addition, the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation has provided a grant of $20,000 to Avalon Recovery Society to ensure that they can continue their important work during this time of great need, despite facing a decline in fundraising revenue. In a time when isolation and loneliness could increase the potential for relapse, having support is critical as these women navigate each day. Thanks to this grant, they are able to stay connected and supported.

“I love the teleconferencing calls. It is such a great way to stay connected to the program.  They really help keep me grounded in my program too. We all need this during these challenging times. Thank you so much for making it possible,” said one participant in the program.

Working together with Avalon Recovery Society, we are continuing to ensure that communities stay connected during this difficult time. Through virtual solutions and technology services, we are able to provide the support Canadians need to help them thrive.
