Investing in tomorrow’s leaders

Post-secondary education opens doors to a brighter future for youth and their families. Unfortunately, for too many young people in Canada, attending college or university is also a time marked by financial stress, with the average Canadian undergraduate leaving post-secondary school heavily in debt.

About the Bursary

The TELUS Student Bursary provides financial assistance to deserving young people across the country who are committed to giving back in their local communities by taking on a social impact project.

Recipients receive a bursary valued at $3,000 (college) or $5,000 (university) to put toward tuition fees at post-secondary institutions in Canada.

Who is eligible to apply:

  • Youth between the ages of 17 and 29 in critical financial need

  • Accepted into, or attending, a first undergraduate degree or diploma program at a college, university or polytechnic institute in Canada

  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident

  • Commitment to delivering a social impact initiative during the course of their studies that will have a positive social or environmental impact in their community.

Bursaries for the academic year

Students can check back annually to apply for the upcoming academic year.

How is the TELUS Student Bursary reaching students who need it?

  • Based on need, not merit: Once financial barriers are removed, anyone can change the world

  • Flexible: Any year of study and any program is eligible for $5,000 (university) or $3,000 (college)

  • Social impact: Bursary recipients are committed to making a difference in their communities by taking on a social impact initiative over the course of their studies

  • More than money alone: We’re offering additional support, including learning and mentorship opportunities, and free mobility and low cost internet plans to keep students connected and thriving

  • Building community: Our alumni are like-minded individuals who want to lift up those around them. This community can further their careers and help them achieve financial and social impact success.
