An accomplished professional with over 20 years of experience in the maritime sector, Mélanie Leblanc has served as Director - Commanding officer of the Institut maritime du Québec (IMQ) since 2019. Her career, shaped by merchant ship navigation, teaching, and management, reflects solid expertise and a deep commitment to training and developing the maritime workforce.

Coming from humble beginnings, Mélanie has always believed that success is built on effort, solidarity, engagement, collaboration, and the sharing of knowledge. This conviction fuels her vision of a society where human value takes precedence over everything else. For her, education and the promotion of living together are essential levers for building an inclusive and sustainable future.

As the mother of two young women on the threshold of adulthood, she draws daily inspiration from this role to promote equity and equal opportunities in a society undergoing profound transformation. Her inspiring leadership shines through, both in her role at IMQ and in her community involvement. Honorary Naval Captain affiliated with HMCS Iberville and Director on the Canadian Armed Forces Liaison Council, she works to bridge civilian and military spheres, fostering collaboration and innovation.
