Supporting the community of Victoria with meal delivery
The Victoria Mustard Seed Street Church (MSSC) operates Vancouver Island’s largest food bank, providing food hampers to 5000+ individuals each month. While recovering 9000 lbs of fresh produce, vegetables and dairy daily, it distributes to 78 agencies, impacting 42,000 individuals. As Covid-19 protocols were implemented across the region, demand increased by over 30%. Unable to keep the doors open, MSSC needed to find new ways to continue providing food to those most in need.
“It takes all of us to build a strong community. COVID showed us that when we come together we can have a great impact."
Through a $20,000 grant, we helped MSSC introduce a new food bank home delivery service that provides hot meals seven days a week to Victoria’s rising homeless population, as well as pre-packaged meals directly to clients’ homes.
“It takes all of us to build a strong community. COVID showed us that when we come together we can have a great impact. Thanks to the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation we were able to deliver hampers and fresh produce to members of our community that were unable to leave their homes.” – Janiene Boice, Senior Director MSSC

By supporting organizations like the Victoria Mustard Seed Church, we’re helping communities facing food insecurity and ensuring that we help meet their unique needs.
