Continuing to feed the Greater Quebec City region during COVID–19
Food insecurity for people living in difficult socioeconomic conditions is a daily hurdle. Moisson Quebec has provided support to the Quebec City community for the past 33 years.
With a $20,000 TELUS Friendly Future Foundation grant, Moisson Québec was able to respond to the increased need for food within its community due to COVID-19 by doubling the number of Quebec City residents it supports. It also secured three freezer equipped warehouses, enabling it to donate over 500,000 kilos of food.
"We were able to support more people in our community – from 35,000 to 70,000 in the space of just a few days"
“We are grateful to the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation for making it possible for us to rapidly respond to the increase in food aid required at the start of the pandemic. With it, we were able to support more people in our community – from 35,000 to 70,000 in the space of just a few days,” says Moisson Québec Executive Director, Élaine Côté.
Together with charities like Moisson Québec, we can provide greater support to our communities and ensure that enough food and services are there when most needed.
