The TELUS Friendly Future Foundation is an independent registered charity dedicated to funding health and technology focused charitable programs in communities across Canada.


National and Provincial Grants

Registered Canadian charities with a national or province-wide scope are invited to apply for single or multi-year grants of up to $200,000. These grants focus their support on public health and technology initiatives for at-risk Canadians.

Community Grants

Registered Canadian charities in a TELUS Community Board region are invited to apply for single-year funding of up to $20,000. These grants focus their support on local public health and technology programs in their region.

How to get funding for a National and Provincial Grant 

We fund national and province-wide initiatives from $20,000 up to $200,000 that enable those in need to achieve their full potential through public health and technology initiatives.

Due to the global pandemic, we felt it was critically important to provide support as quickly as possible. That’s why we expedited our application review and granting process. We are excited to share that we have fully allocated our National and Provincial Fund for 2020, supporting charities on the front lines of providing COVID-19 relief to vulnerable populations. We invite you to apply for funding when we open our 2021 application cycle on January 1, 2021. 

We continue to provide grants for local, grassroots charities with community based health programs focused on helping vulnerable populations through our TELUS Community Board Grant program.

Funding criteria

In order to receive funding, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Organizations must have charitable status and be registered by the Canada Revenue Agency

  • Organizations who have a national or province-wide focus

  • Single-year and multi-year programs should focus on public health and technology for vulnerable populations

Application deadlines

2020 National and Provincial grants are now closed. Applications for 2021 will be open on January 1 2021 and will be reviewed twice per year.  Deadlines for 2021 will be May 1 and September 1.

How to get funding for a Community Grant

The TELUS Community Boards, funded by the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, supports local grassroots initiatives from Canadian registered charities who focus on vulnerable communities through public health and technology programs. Due to the global pandemic, funding will be focused on critically important community-based health programs, including mental health and well-being programs, supporting at-risk populations. TELUS Community Boards award one-time regional grants of up to $20,000 for innovative local public health and technology programs.

Funding criteria

In order to receive funding, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Organizations must have charitable status and be registered by the Canada Revenue Agency 

  • Organizations who have a local focus and operate in a TELUS Community Board region 

  • Single-year programs should  focus on public health and technology

  • We will consider requests for funding up to $20,000; with the exception of the TELUS Barrie & Simcoe County Community Board, whose maximum grant is $10,000

Please note: The TELUS Community Boards only reviews grants to registered Canadian charities and are unable to support requests for sponsorships.

Ineligible applicants

Organizations and programs considered ineligible for grants from the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation and the TELUS Community Boards:

  • Religious or sectarian organizations except where they represent non-denominational community and social support services

  • Retroactive requests or activities that take place outside of Canada 

  • Requests for capital campaigns, endowments or debt reduction campaigns 

  • Funding for individuals or competitive sports teams and goodwill advertising

  • Sponsorship requests
